Exhibition Description:
Aditi Singh presents a diverse range of works on paper executed in charcoal and watercolour; each piece navigating the interval between the ethereal and the earthly, the spiritual and the material. The installation of a 'Conference of Birds' using about 40 works using ink on parchment paper, is an exemplary manifestation of her meditative and inventive draughtsmanship. The artist presents the viewer with a dynamic landscape of imagined recollection.
Description:
This contemporary artist was born in Gauhati, India in 1976. She has lived between India, Europe, and the United States. Singh has studied painting at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. She subsequently earned an M.F.A. at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. Aditi Singh has participated in group exhibitions throughout the United States and internationally. This is the artist's first solo exhibition at Chemould Prescott Road. The artist currently lives and works in Bombay.
