Exhibition Description:

These works are from McKeever’s Assembly series. McKeever paintings occupy a space between abstraction and figuration and each radiates with its own luminosity. His compositions are made using layer upon layer of transparent paint to create an uncompromising and complex pictorial surface.

Education and Training:

McKeever (b.1946) lives and works in Dorset. Attended the Slade School of Art & Design in 1971. Throughout his career McKeever has taught extensively in the UK, Germany and the USA. He is Visiting Professor in Painting at the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the University of Brighton and Professor of Drawing at the Royal Academy School of Arts in London. McKeever was elected a Royal Academician in 2003.

Description:

McKeever has developed a pictorial language that is unique in British painting. This has brought him considerable international acclaim while simultaneously setting him apart from his peers and defying neat categorisation.
