Exhibition Title: Ground Zero

Artist Name: ISA GENZKEN
Dates: 3 April – 17 May 2008 Opening: Wednesday 2 April 2008
Website: http://www.hauserwirth.com

Exhibition Description:

Genzken presents a new body of work that will be displayed across the entire Piccadilly gallery. At the exhibition’s core will be a presentation of Isa Genzken’s long-awaited architectural proposals for Ground Zero, the twenty first century’s most historically significant site. Running contrary to official designs, Isa Genzken envisages buildings with a social purpose that might help to emotionally regenerate the site.

Description:

'Oil', Venice Biennale 2007, German Pavilion, Photo: Jan Bitter
This Contemporary artist was recently listed by Monopol magazine as the world’s number one living artist. Genzken's sculptures offer an extraordinary physical and psychological reflection upon the fragmented state of contemporary reality. In the words of Elizabeth Peyton, her art is 'devastating and poetic, concisely capturing the beauty and tragedy of the world we live in. That Isa Genzken finds a way to make such huge statements in an abstract, non-literal way while creating magically beautiful objects is monumental.'
