Exhibition Title: LOST WORLD OF INNOCENCE

Artist Name: Miranda Donovan
Dates: 9 May – 30 May 2008
Website: http://www.lazinc.com

Exhibition Description:

Miranda Donovan will be presenting over twenty paintings from five new series of works. Donovan’s paintings are characterised by their sculpted brickwork surfaces built-up in layers of cement, plaster, sand and paint. This gives the canvas a grid-like structure that the artist then scrawls over with various styles of painted graffiti using an interplay of colours.

This Artist is part of the urban art scene in a line via Banksy to Basquiat. She has developed a new approach based on her interest in the possibilities of the
painted space and the historic works of Anthony Tapies and Jacob van
Ruisdael.

Education and Training:

Donovan was born in 1979 and grew up in Holland and London. She
studied art in France at the École des Beaux Arts in Aix en Provence and at the
City and Guilds School of Art in London.
