Exhibition Description:
Yvon Lambert New York will present new work by American artist Andres Serrano. Born in 1950, Serrano is considered to be one of the most important contemporary artists working today.
His work focuses on universal themes such as bodily fluids, religion, sex and death and has provoked much controversy.
In this new series he has produced new large scale photographs that continue his investigation of bodily functions through excrement produced by a variety of animals. Serrano formally constructs his photographs and demonstrates considerable technical skill in analyzing subject matter that might make some viewers squeamish.
Treating the feces to his familiar bright psychedelic backgrounds and titles, Serrano demonstrates his keen sense of humour and provocative point of view in his works; Good Shit, Bad Shit, Bull Shit, Hieronymous Bosch shit, Romantic shit and Deep shit.
